Mis Amores Salvatruches

Mis Amores Salvatruches is a series of paintings which explore the iconography of folk art inspired by famed Salvadorian Artist Fernando Llort. These paintings focus on a queerness, and everyday tenderness that is absent in mainstream depictions of people from El Salvador. We are often bombarded with violent and miserable imagery of ourselves. Even within our own households we experience violent responses to the expressions of our queer identities. I hope that these works are able to provide a more positive reflection of who we are and the moments of love, calm, and passion we want to live.
